Welcome to the 2019-2020 Concert Season

This year we celebrate our 16th season bringing a wide range of classical choral literature to Amelia Island, Florida.

The Island Chamber Singers enters its 16th Season of bringing classical choral literature to Amelia Island.  We are excited about our repertoire chosen for this year.

We began with Christmas Joy which featured “The Many Moods of Christmas”, Suite Three, arranged by Robert Shaw and Robert Russell Bennett.  This introduced you to classical Christmas music from the Renaissance through the twenty-first century.  Of course, we concluded our concert with Rutter’s “I Wish You Christmas” a favorite of our audiences for several years.  The chorus of fifty members were accompanied by a large orchestral ensemble.  We truly did ring in the Christmas spirit with this concert on December 6th and December 8th in 2019.

Our Spring Program features a major work by Johannes Brahms, A German Requiem.  This particular Requiem is unique in the literature in that it is not biblically based.  One of the favorite choruses from the work is “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place.” It is scored for soprano and baritone solos, chorus and orchestra.  Our two soloists are well known to the Amelia Island area. Soprano, Robyn Lamp, and baritone, David Scheininger, will be part of our sixty-member chorus singers.  Though originally written in German, the Requiem will be sung with English text.  Dates for these performances are Friday, March 27th and Sunday, March 29th in 2020.

Tickets are $20 for adults when purchased in advance of concert day.  They can be purchased online on our Tickets page; from a member of Island Chamber Singers; at the Amelia Island Welcome Center, 102 Centre Street, (800) 226-3542; at Peterbrooke Chocolatier, 1427 Sadler Road; at the AIFBY Chamber of Commerce, 961687 Gateway Blvd., Suite 101G (at A1A and Amelia Island Parkway), (904) 261-3248; and at Harrison’s Mercantile at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Spa and Shops, (904) 432-2218.  Tickets may also be purchased at the door for $25.  Tickets are always FREE for all students.  For additional information, or to arrange a vocal interview to sing with the group, please call (904) 225-0575 on weekdays.
